Duties and Responsibilities:Dermatologists are physicians who treat conditions related to the skin, though they may also treat disorders related to the hair and nails. Dermatologists undergo additional specialized training beyond receiving a medical degree to become experts in skincare, and they must also obtain a license to practice.
Salary: $100,000 - $500,000.
Education:College, earning a bachelor's degree. Medical school, becoming a medical doctor or doctor of osteopathic medicine. Internship, 1 year of required medical training. An accredited dermatology residency program, at least 3 years.
Demand for this profession:Employment of physicians and surgeons is projected to grow 18 percent from 2012 to 2022, faster than the average for all occupations. Some medical schools are increasing their enrollments on the basis of a perceived higher demand for physicians.
